Free Demo Mode in V1.2.0
MilkyDawn runs in free demo mode without a license key — no time limit, no expiration. V1.2.0 makes the Demo much more useful for real evaluation.
What you can do in demo mode:
- Watch real-time audio-reactive visuals with full rendering quality
- Select your audio input/output device
- Use the Main tab controls, including mode switching, Random, Reload, and the Preset List
- Adjust mode parameters, visual effects, feedback, and auto modulation
- Use keyboard shortcuts such as TAB, H, R, G, F, and D
- Record live video and use offline rendering
- Download official EYESY preset packs from Critter & Guitari when they are missing
What remains locked until you activate Pro:
- Customizing and saving color palettes
- Saving, exporting, and loading settings/scenes
Demo recordings and offline renders include a short MilkyDawn logo card at the beginning and once per minute. Once you purchase and enter your serial key in Settings → License, the Pro experience unlocks instantly — no restart needed.

MilkyDawn is a standalone real-time audio visualizer for Windows. It listens to the sound playing on your computer and turns music, DAW playback, games, streams, or any system audio into reactive visuals.
MilkyDawn is currently built for Windows 10 or later, 64-bit. It uses Windows audio capture features, so macOS and Linux are not supported by the current release.
Yes. MilkyDawn can capture the audio that is already playing on your computer using WASAPI loopback. In most setups, you do not need virtual audio cables or complicated routing.
Yes. If the sound is playing through your Windows audio output, MilkyDawn can react to it. This includes music players, browser audio, games, livestreams, and DAW playback.
V1.2.0 opens up the Demo experience. Demo users can now use Main controls, switch modes, open the Preset List, use keyboard shortcuts, record live video, and use offline rendering. Palette editing and settings save/load remain Pro-only.
The Demo now lets you evaluate the main visual workflow, mode switching, recording, and offline rendering without a time limit. Pro removes the demo logo cards from recorded output and unlocks palette customization plus saving, exporting, and loading settings/scenes.
No. The Demo does not expire. It is designed so you can test MilkyDawn’s visual quality, audio reaction, mode switching, and recording workflow before upgrading to Pro.
Yes. In Demo mode, live recordings and offline renders include a short MilkyDawn logo card for three seconds at the start and once per minute. Pro recordings do not include these logo cards.
Yes. MilkyDawn can run EYESY-compatible presets. If the official EYESY OS v3 preset pack is missing on first launch, MilkyDawn can prompt you to download it from Critter & Guitari’s official GitHub repository.
Yes. MilkyDawn supports live video recording and offline rendering from an audio file. These features are available in both Demo and Pro, with the Demo logo card behavior described above.
Yes. MilkyDawn is designed for live visuals, studio ambience, streams, and small performances. Multi-monitor support lets you send visuals to a connected display or projection setup.
After purchasing Pro, enter your serial key in Settings -> License. Once activated, Pro features unlock without needing to restart the application.
